As of July '08, we have no pups or started dogs available. We will not be having more litters until this winter and the spring of '09, during which time we may do two to four breedings. Females which we may breed during that period include Mira III vom Altmoor, Nike III vom Altmoor, Ottavia III (Tavi) vom Altmoor, and Pixie III vom Altmoor. Tavi and Pixie will not complete the prerequisites for breeding until the fall of '08, however their potential is apparent to those who have met them or noted that out of 313 DD's evaluated by GNA in VJP in '08, they were two of just eight who achieved scores of 77 (straight 11's).
We can't predict with any degree of certainty when the girls will be coming into heat, and we don't finalize decisions about studs until the last moment. However, if you are seriously interested in obtaining a vom Altmoor pup during the next year, please read our Costs & Guarantees, and Buyer Prerequisites sections, then shoot us an email. We'll need your name, address, and phone number, and just a little information about your hunting interests and gun dog background. If you know the sex of the pup you want, that would be good to know, too.
When we receive your email, we'll acknowledge it and put it in a folder of folks to receive advance notification of our breedings. This means you'll be notified and will have a chance to reserve a pup before we announce the litter on our website. Your email will not obligate you in any way, however we would ask that, as a courtesy, you let us know should you subsequently obtain a pup from another breeder or otherwise change your mind.
Below you'll find information on our last two breedings, just to whet your appetite.
"R³" Litter vom Altmoor (our 70th DD litter)
whelped 22 April 2008
3 males, 2 females - gone of course, but still posted for reference only

Nike and Nancy
Below are details on our spring 2008 breeding of Nike III vom Altmoor to Kane vom Dan-Son. On the third line for each dog are the highest scores it has received in a VDD/JGHV test in the categories of Nose (N), Field Search (S), Pointing (P), Duck Track (D), and Cooperation (C). With certain exceptions, the highest score that can be obtained in these categories is 11 in the breed tests (where "very good" is scored 9-11).
Both dogs have very nice test scores and are clear of the hereditary bleeding disorders. This will be Nike's first litter, and Kane's fifth (his third one for us).
Nike is a product of many years of our breeding. The best way to describe her is "easy". She was easy to train, she's easy to travel with, she's an easy dog to have in the house or in the kennel, she's easy to hunt with in any type of situation, or to have with you just to hang out. Once trained, she stays that way without refresher courses - she's not one of those dogs who is always trying to pull something to see what she can get away with. If she were someone's spouse, we'd call her low-maintenance. She's totally trustworthy around other dogs as well as people. She has earned 11 in Track, 11 in Nose, 11 in Search, 10 in Pointing, 10 in Search Behind the Duck, and 11 in Cooperation.
We’ve known Kane’s breeder for many years. He’s the Breed Warden for VDD Group Canada. We know how serious he is. We’ve also known Vern, Kane’s owner, for many years. He’s had several DD’s, including from us. He’s a dead serious hunter and former member of the New Jersey State Fish & Wildlife Council (essentially, civilian oversight of the NJ Fish & Wildlife Division). We don’t hunt with Vern, but we’ve been around Kane quite a few times. Nancy judged him in VJP and was extremely impressed by the combination of his drive and scope of search, and yet total concentration and calmness on the track. Above all, he’s happy, bubbly, and gets along with all people and all dogs. He has earned 11 in Track, 11 in Nose, 11 in Search, 11 in Pointing, 11 in Search Behind the Duck, and 10 in Cooperation.
Please note that since Nike is a Braunschimmel (liver roan) and Kane is a Schwarzschimmel (black roan) all of the pups could be one or the other color, or more likely there will be some of each. We take reservations by sex, but not by color. As the Germans say, a good dog can't be a bad color. If we don't have what you're looking for right now, please visit VDD/GNA's website. Continue down the page further if you would like to learn a little more about the Q3 litter from last summer. While the stud hasn't been selected yet, Mira will bred again this summer.

Mira with Oldsquaw
Below are details on our summer 2007 breeding of Mira III vom Altmoor to Kane vom Dan-Son. On the third line for each dog are the highest scores it has received in a VDD/JGHV test in the categories of Nose (N), Field Search (S), Pointing (P), Duck Track (D), and Cooperation (C). Both dogs have very nice test scores and are clear of the hereditary bleeding disorders. This will be Mira's first litter, and Kane's third (his second one for us).
Mira is the product of many years of our breeding. In a word, she’s crazy (in a good way). She’s calm in the house and car, a lover. In the field or water her heart will explode before she’ll give up. She will do anything for you; she lives to please, and hunt, in that order. She’s friendly with all dogs and all people when loose. (She will act watchdoggy in the house, or when confined to a car or kennel.) As a very young puppy, maybe 10 weeks, she would fly out of our 20' Jon boat into the water when sent on a retrieve. At low tide on the tidal marshes, at the same age, she would fly off of the sod banks into the water six feet below. At just a few months old she would make retrieves in the ocean surf the very first time she saw it. She has earned 10 in Track, 11 in Nose, 11 in Search, 11 in Pointing, 11 in Search Behind the Duck, and 11 in Cooperation.
We’ve known Kane’s breeder for many years. He’s the Breed Warden for VDD Group Canada. We know how serious he is. We’ve also known Vern, Kane’s owner, for many years.
